Water coming from the ground comes in a range of quality. You might be lucky and have water that is clean, Ph balanced and with normal levels of iron. It might have no bacteria with just the right mineral content and taste incredible. Most homeowners are not that lucky. Some have fine sand, high iron content, low pH, manganese, or bacteria. Filtration is the answer and Hawkins Well and Pump has the right solution to deliver high quality water to your faucet.
Sediment Filters: If you have sediment like fine sand or iron particulates in your water source, a sediment filter might be the right solution. These filters are installed in the water lines providing water into your system and act as a fine sieve, clearing away small particulates that can wreak havoc on faucets, valves, washing machines and shower heads. These can be a cartridge-style filter, or a blowout style filter. These require homeowner maintenance but provide excellent sediment filtration.
Canister Filters: Sometimes considered water softeners, these are larger style canisters that contain media that condition the water depending upon what needs to be filtered. These can contain calcite, greensand, carbon or a number of other filtering media. Some of these filters do not require user maintenance, whereas others require the monthly addition of salt to a separate tank that backwashes the filter to clean out collected minerals. These filters should be serviced annually.
UV Filters: Some water sources contain bacteria, which can be harmful to ingest. Bacteria usually come from shallow wells, where contaminants can infiltrate the well from the surface. Ultraviolet light filters, or UV filters, provide UV light to kill the bacteria and make the water safe for consumption. The water runs through a clear glass tube that exposes the water to the UV light, killing any type of bacteria that passes. These filters require a once-a-year maintenance.
Miscellaneous filers: If your home requires additional filtration or point of use systems, Hawkins Well and Pump installs a large variety of water filtration. Reverse Osmosis systems, Undercounter drinking water filters, charcoal filters and more, we have the right system for your home needs.
To determine what type of filtration your system needs, a laboratory water test is a great first step. The results can help Hawkins determine the right solution for you. Hawkins Well and Pump can provide filtration for just about any system. Give us a call to find out more.
