6 inch Well Head

Wells
New England water wells come in a variety of styles, depending on when your home was built and what the well was designed to support. Modern wells are usually drilled wells that bore deep into the earth to reach groundwater from an aquifer. These wells use submersible pumps to deliver water to the home and generally feature a 6-inch steel casing driven into bedrock on the upper part of the well. These wells are generally located near to a structure.

Older style wells could produce all the water your home needs but are built differently. Dug wells and point wells are shallower wells that produce water located above bedrock. The pump for this style well is usually a jet pump found in the basement of the home. The depth of a dug well is generally no deeper than 25 feet.

There are also many unique setups to provide water to a home or property. Hawkins Well and Pump has seen them all. We work on artesian wells, dug wells, point systems and all other "unique" circumstances.
