Hawkins Well and Pump was founded by Albert "Ike" Hawkins of Ashaway in 1972. Ike was a good man who genuinely cared about his customers. He passed away in March of 2024 after 52 years of troubleshooting underground leaks, burned out pumps, pressure switches and other water system woes.
He loved the challenges that running the business brought. He started by drilling wells with an old "pounder" rig and at the same time took care of his customers' pumps and tanks. He was never deterred by a late-night call, weekend or holiday. The customer came first.
If you had ever met Ike, you probably have fond memories, as it was hard not to like him. He understood that nothing is more important to your home and business than running water, so he did all he could to keep his customers' water flowing. He had a reputation of getting the job done and being fair with people.
The business is now operated by Ike's son, Justin Hawkins of Westerly, who is honored to continue the legacy set forth by his father.
